|Our response to the Coronavirus …|
In a decision made by the Board of Directors for the Spiritual Formation Society of Arizona, we will postpone upcoming SFSAZ events through the first part of April. As we look at the nation wide effort and call to slow down the spread of the Coronavirus, social distancing and reducing the amount of time people spend in large groups is vital to the effort. In a spirit of love for our neighbor as well as honoring the requests and wisdom of public health officials, we are making this move. We are not afraid of what may come but we desire to be responsible and not unnecessarily put anyone at risk. There is always plenty of time to do what God desires for us. So, we will reevaluate in the coming weeks and will reschedule events when the time is right and the risk has abated. In the mean time, you will receive specific details about the postponement of any event for which you have registered.
This means that the following events will not be taking place as scheduled:
March 19 – Pastors’ Lunch
March 24 – Be/Still
April 4 – Enneagram Workshop
In addition, we are looking at offering some things online such as Be/Still. We will let you know more as we know more! Until then, if you haven’t yet, check out our new podcast “Taste and See” – we have two episodes out with a third coming in the next weeks. Just go to our website (sfsaz.org) and look under “Resources” or go to the iTunes Store or Google Play Store and search “Spiritual Formation Society of Arizona” under podcasts.
One more thing … in a time like this, when so many of our normal rhythms of life are being put on hold and there is much we don’t know, consider it an opportunity to engage in things we do know … love of neighbor, prayer for the vulnerable, giving to those who are hurting, listening to some who might be afraid. In addition, the cessation of normal things brings some stillness, don’t fight it – rest into it: “Be Still and Know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10). Read the whole of Psalm 46 and you’ll see that it was in turbulent times that God calls us to stillness.
