Psalm 125

A song of ascents

Those who trust in the Lord are as secure as Mount Zion;
    they will not be defeated but will endure forever.
Just as the mountains surround Jerusalem,
    so the Lord surrounds his people, both now and forever.

The wicked will not rule the land of the godly,
for then the godly might be tempted to do wrong.
O Lord, do good to those who are good,
whose hearts are in tune with you.
But banish those who turn to crooked ways, O Lord.
Take them away with those who do evil.

Along our journey we find ourselves in spaces that feel safe and secure. Read this prompt focusing on verse 2 from the Psalm above. Close your eyes and imagine what a safe place is to you. It can be a real place you’ve encountered or a place that’s imaginary or a compilation of many places. Wherever it is, spend a few minutes in quiet there, looking around, noticing what you feel. Perhaps you imagine God with you in that space. Rest for as long as you would like and give gratitude for whatever arises with God.
