Psalm 18 excerpts

In my distress I called to the Lord;
    I cried to my God for help.

He reached down from on high and took hold of me;
    he drew me out of deep waters.
He rescued me from my powerful enemy,
    from my foes, who were too strong for me.
They confronted me in the day of my disaster,
    but the Lord was my support.
He brought me out into a spacious place;
    he rescued me because he delighted in me.

He makes my feet like the feet of a deer;
    he causes me to stand on the heights.

You provide a broad path for my feet,
    so that my ankles do not give way.

“Go forth in peace, for you have followed the good road. Go forth without fear, for he who created you has made you holy, has always protected you, and loves you as a mother. Blessed be you, my God, for having created me. ” – Saint Clare of Assisi

Reflection

We invite you to read through the Psalm above and the quote from Saint Clare of Assisi. As you reflect on your journey do you find yourself on a dark path? In deep waters crying for rescue? A spacious place?

Take some time with God to journal about that place. Just as Jesus asked blind Bartimaeus, “what do you want me to do for you?” respond to the question in whatever space you find yourself today.
