Psalm 119:41-48
Let your love, God, shape my life
with salvation, exactly as you promised;
Then I’ll be able to stand up to mockery
because I trusted your Word.
Don’t ever deprive me of truth, not ever—
your commandments are what I depend on.
Oh, I’ll guard with my life what you’ve revealed to me,
guard it now, guard it ever;
And I’ll stride freely through wide open spaces
as I look for your truth and your wisdom;
Then I’ll tell the world what I find,
speak out boldly in public, unembarrassed.
I cherish your commandments—oh, how I love them!—
relishing every fragment of your counsel.
“Obedience is the road to freedom.” – C.S. Lewis
Reflection: Take a few deep breaths slowly. Close your eyes, and with God, remember a time you’ve followed God in obedience. Was it a difficult choice or an easy one to obey? As you reflect, can you see or know the freedom that came through obeying God? Take a few moments and write down the feelings or words you’re noticing as you reflect. How might this inform the next time you’re asked to follow God in obedience? Give gratitude for whatever has come up for you as you reflect.
