Psalm 93

The Lord reigns, he is robed in majesty;
    the Lord is robed in majesty and armed with strength;
    indeed, the world is established, firm and secure.
Your throne was established long ago;
    you are from all eternity.

The seas have lifted up, Lord,
    the seas have lifted up their voice;
    the seas have lifted up their pounding waves.
Mightier than the thunder of the great waters,
    mightier than the breakers of the sea—
    the Lord on high is mighty.

Your statutes, Lord, stand firm;
    holiness adorns your house
    for endless days.

Reflection:

This past Sunday was Christ the King Sunday for many in their liturgical church calendars. The last Sunday of the year – the new year beginning with Advent.

We invite you to celebrate the Christ the King by practicing an audio divina (sacred listening) to the song “Be Thou My Vision”  or a lectio divina (sacred reading) with the lyrics several times below.

The first time – just listen or read the text.

The second time you listen or read notice what stands out to you? Is it a word an image a melodic phrase or instrument? Spend a few moments with that when it finished.

The third time you listen – again notice what stands out to you, perhaps it is the same thing or something different. Take a few more moments to sit quietly with God. Wonder about what drew your attention. Is there something else God wants you to know from this?

Listen or read and rest with God.
