Psalm 96:11-13
Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad;
let the sea resound, and all that is in it.
Let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them;
let all the trees of the forest sing for joy.
Let all creation rejoice before the Lord, for he comes,
he comes to judge the earth.
He will judge the world in righteousness
and the peoples in his faithfulness.
I bind unto myself today,
The strong name of the Trinity:
By invocation of the same,
The Three in One and One in Three,
Of Whom all nature hath creation,
Eternal God, Spirit, Word:
Praise to the Lord of my salvation —
Salvation is of Christ the Lord!–St. Patrick’s Breastplate
Reflection:
We invite you today to read through the scripture slowly three times, out loud if you’re able.
Is there a word or phrase that stands out? Is there an emotion you hear rising from the text?
As you read what is the conclusion of the prayer of St. Patrick on his breastplate read it as a prayer of protection. Is there something you’d ask God to encircle you, protect you from today?
