Community Prayer Practice
June – August 2025
What are we doing? Join us this summer in praying the Lord’s Prayer every day (or in a consistent way) from June 1 to August 31. Simply take a few minutes each day. Pray the prayer three times (once slowly through to orient yourself to the prayer; once for yourself and once for the SFSAZ). Below are ideas for each section of the prayer.
Why are we doing this? We believe deeply in seeking God’s heart in all things, following Him and being led by Him. We’d love for you to join us in this practice praying for your own community and relationships as well as with the SFSAZ, as an expression of unity around the mission God has given us to offer safe spaces for leaders and learners to grow in deepening intimacy with the Trinity.
What’s the plan?
Pray through once slowly
Pray through for yourself
Pray through for the SFSAZ
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
(Ask the Father for His goodness and grace to experienced through the SFSAZ)
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
(Pray for us to follow His heart in all we do; simply offering space for experiencing God)
Give us this day our daily bread.
(Ask God for the provision of resources to accomplish the mission)
And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who’ve trespassed against us.
(Pray for grace and patience to fill all that we do)
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
(Ask that we not give in to the temptation to be powerful, popular, or proud)
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
(Pray that all we do would be for His kingdom and glory)
Helpful Considerations
-
Download the prayer practice guide and set it next to your desk or wherever you spend time with God
-
set a reminder in your calendar to pray with us daily – perhaps you set it to 11:02 (one version of the Lord’s prayer is found in Luke 11:2
-
find a posture that’s comfortable and open handed – perhaps even take a few minutes in silence when the prayer practice is completed
-
No judgment – if you miss a day or even a week. It’s a practice of being with God in a consistent way – and consistency doesn’t have to mean every day.
