Psalm 121
A song for pilgrims ascending to Jerusalem.

1 I look up to the mountains—
does my help come from there?
2 My help comes from the Lord,
who made heaven and earth!

3 He will not let you stumble;
the one who watches over you will not slumber.
4 Indeed, he who watches over Israel
never slumbers or sleeps.

5 The Lord himself watches over you!
The Lord stands beside you as your protective shade.
6 The sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon at night.

7 The Lord keeps you from all harm
and watches over your life.
8 The Lord keeps watch over you as you come and go,
both now and forever.

Reflection:

Today we invite you to quiet yourself – take at least three full, deep breaths – exhaling slowly.

As you enter into a quiet space with God, take a moment to gratefully acknowledge God’s presence with you.

Read Psalm 121. It might feel very familiar. Psalm 121 calls us to shift our gaze. Take a few moments today and look up. Look up from your work, from your busy life, to a moment of wonder and awe.

Pray Psalm 121 as if it were your own prayer:

I look up to the mountains— does my help come from there?

My help comes from you, Lord, who made heaven and earth!

You will not let me stumble; the one who watches over me will not slumber.
You who watches over Israel never slumbers or sleeps.

You watch over me!
You stand beside me as a protective shade.
The sun will not harm me by day, nor the moon at night.

You will keep me from all harm and watch over my life.
You keep watch over me as I come and go, both now and forever.

AMEN
