Reflection

Exodus 14:14 comes from a story when Moses was leading the Israelites out of Egypt. As the Israelites begin to worry about their situation Moses gives the invitation to pause. As the different versions of the Bible say: to be quiet – to be still – to stay calm.

Today we invite you to pause. To trust that God will hold you and all your circumstances through the pause. Be silent. Be quiet. Be calm. Do not do a thing. Practice pausing with God in silence for at least a minute if it’s your first time. If you’ve practiced silence before, try 5 or 10 minutes. Allow your thoughts to pass without judgment. End your silent prayer with gratitude for this time.
