Reflection 9-18-25
8 Come, behold the works of the Lord,
how he has brought desolations on the earth.
9 He makes wars cease to the end of the earth;
he breaks the bow and shatters the spear;
he burns the chariots with fire.
10 “Be still, and know that I am God.
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!”
11 The Lord of hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah
Reflection
Psalm 46:10 is a familiar verse where many find a quiet place to rest and pray. Psalm 46 is one of the places we also find the written instruction, Selah, to take a pause. We invite you today to find a few minutes of quiet, take a few deep breaths to invite stillness, and read this last part of the Psalm in its entirety. And when you make your way to the end, then take a few moments of pause to consider the whole section. You may even want to read the whole of Psalm 46 in this way, pausing where it says “Interlude” or Selah each of the three times. As you consider the section of text what do you notice? Is there a word that stands out? Perhaps a theme reveals itself or a question arises. Whatever it is, hold it with God today.
