Psalm 145:17-21
17 The Lord is righteous in everything he does;
he is filled with kindness.
18 The Lord is close to all who call on him,
yes, to all who call on him in truth.
19 He grants the desires of those who fear him;
he hears their cries for help and rescues them.
20 The Lord protects all those who love him,
but he destroys the wicked.
21 I will praise the Lord,
and may everyone on earth bless his holy name
forever and ever.
Reflection
Take a few nice deep breaths – inhaling fully and exhaling slowly. Sit in silent prayer with God for 2 minutes or more. Read through the final verses of Psalm 145 slowly two times. Bring your attention back to verse 17. As you read the words “he is filled with kindness” what comes to mind? Does it bring joy and comfort? Resistance? Irritation? Perhaps even disbelief? Perhaps you find yourself holding a few different emotions. Hold them in your open hands with God. Perhaps you journal a conversation with God about what comes up when you consider God’s kindness. No matter what comes us, there’s no need to “figure it all out” today. Sit with it for awhile.
