Psalm 52
8 But I am like an olive tree, thriving in the house of God.
I will always trust in God’s unfailing love.
9 I will praise you forever, O God,
for what you have done.
I will trust in your good name
in the presence of your faithful people.
The olive tree can live for thousands of years. They begin bearing fruit at about five years of age. The root system is strong and capable of regenerating itself. Olive trees can grow with little water. They produce generously. In ancient times they were seen as a symbol of abundance and peace.
Reflection:
Take a few moments to read the passage and the information about olive trees. Take a few moments to meditate on the first line of the Psalm. As you consider the olive tree, what does it look like to thrive in the house of God? Hold all in a prayer of gratitude with God.
